How to Resize Photo for Government Forms in India β€” Aadhaar, PAN, Passport (2026)

Ravi Kumar Β· 6 min read Β· Last updated June 2026

Amit spent two hours filling out his passport application online. Address, references, emergency contacts β€” everything done carefully. Then he hit the photo upload step. His phone photo was 4MB. The portal accepted maximum 1MB. He resized it on his phone β€” now it was too small in pixels. He resized again β€” now it was the right KB but wrong dimensions. The portal kept rejecting it.

He gave up that night and restarted the next morning with the right information. This guide is what he wished he had found first.

How to Resize Your Photo β€” Step by Step

  1. Open WorkUtilities Photo Resizer
  2. Upload your photo
  3. Select the document type from presets (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport etc.)
  4. Dimensions and KB limit auto-fill
  5. Download your resized photo

The preset system means you don't need to remember any numbers. Just select your document type and download.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Using mobile screenshots β€” compression artifacts make portal rejection more likely
  • Black and white photos β€” most portals require color photos
  • Sunglasses or cap β€” not accepted for any official ID document
  • Old photos β€” passport applications require recent photos (within 6 months)
  • Wrong background β€” colored backgrounds rejected for most government IDs
